GPALA is proud to announce the addition of a new PR/Marketing committee to help with our efforts to expand our marketing and brand strategy, and spread the word to a wider audience of group psychotherapy professionals across Los Angeles.
Together with Annie Babin, GPALA’s PR/Marketing chair, Aimee Martinez and Vala Kondo-Legan have kicked off 2016 with a fresh design perspective and a renewed plan to expand our presence across social media. We are fortunate to have two very talented professionals join our team!
WELCOME, Aimee and Vala!
Aimee Martinez is currently in her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Wright Institute in Los Angeles. She recently completed her PsyD in Applied Clinical Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Westwood. Her dissertation focused on developing a protocol implementing Work Discussion Groups as a supervisory component in substance abuse and mental health treatment centers to aid in decreasing counselor burnout and increasing workplace efficiency. Aimee’s research was inspired by her training in Work Discussion Groups at the Tavistock Clinic, London.
Aimee also has extensive experience in marketing and event planning. She was a key developer of marketing, clinical and program development for CLARE Foundation’s Conscious Recovery by CLARE in Santa Monica. She is also an important part of the development and expansion of GPALA’s social media presence.
In her clinical practice, Aimee utilizes a psychodynamic perspective on addiction to address underlying issues of trauma and attachment including depression and anxiety that accompany substance use disorders.
Vala Kondo-Legan is a psychodynamic therapist trained in both Psychotherapy and Clinical Art Therapy. Following her Masters degree from Loyola Marymount University, Vala received extensive training at the highly regarded Maple Counseling Center and Wright Institute Los Angeles. Vala has experience working with adults, children and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, personality issues and trauma as well as diagnoses of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Vala currently has a private practice in Westwood and is a regular speaker on the subject of art therapy for children with history of disorganized attachment at The Maple Counseling Center and local schools.
Her experience co-founding and facilitating a women’s process group led her to become an enthusiastic member of GPALA. With an extensive background in illustration, Vala is the artist behind our fabulous brand character illustrations!
